H&M’S LATEST CAMPAIGN CHALLENGES WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A ‘LADY’
When I came across this video online last night my heart filled up to the brim and I screamed to no one in particular “F*CK YES!”.
Forget everything you know about what it means to be a ‘lady’, H&M’s latest campaign video want to challenge the stereotype and redefine how a lady looks, moves, talks and lives. Starring an army of fearless, entertaining, off-beat and independent women from the inspiring Adwoa Aboah, transgender model and activist Hari Nef, champion Muay Thai boxer Fatima Pinto and the iconic Lauren Hutton, the campaign is accompanied by a new version of the misogynistic Tom Jones classic “She’s A Lady”.
The once dated song has been transformed by music duo Lion Babe into the feminist anthem of 2016 where lines like “She always knows her place” no longer means the kitchen, it now means head of the table, the boardroom and the boss.
Consider this your Thursday pep talk to get out there, be unapologetic about the kind of ‘lady’ you are and seize the damn day.
