The Best Skincare Products I Tried For The First Time in 2018
Here is a list of the best skincare products I tried this year, from the cheap and cheerful to the expensive and luxurious. I hadn’t tried any of these prior to 2018. Here are my one sentence reviews!
Lanolips 101 Ointment. Contains medical-grade lanolin (derived from sheep’s wool!) and no petrolatum.
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA. I needed a new salicylic acid and bought this one from their Australian online store. Gentle enough to use daily!
La Mer Renewal Oil. The small bottle is deceiving but this will last me approximately a decade. I wear it to bed, during the day, to the supermarket.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream. An old school moisturiser with a hygienic dispenser. No fragrance. Does the job.
Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. A super restorative oil to wear to bed or when you’re fresh out of the shower. Drunk Elephant products are super clean and don’t contain any non-clinically proven chemicals.
Christophe Robin Cleansing Mask with Lemon. I never knew a non-foaming scrub could clean my scalp?
Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water. It took me too long to try this. Beats any other micellar I’ve used, and I’ve used A LOT.
Glossier Solution. This is a polarising product and not everyone likes it because it has a small amount of four acids, rather than a decent amount of one. If you don’t have a specific skin concern and just want a mild improvement across all areas this is good!
Weleda Skin Food. Good Lord this is a good product. Use it as a moisturiser, mask or primer.
KNC Natural Collagen Infused Lip Mask. Gimmicky but works.
KNC Natural Retinol Infused Eye Mask. Even more gimmicky but works.
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. Heavy on lavender. Deep on sleep. It makes me fall asleep within 12 minutes and I’m addicted.
La Mer Body Refiner. It really does refine your body (!!).
REN AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum. Serum for your body is now important. This product is great if you’re someone who gets milia on your arms etc.
Votary Blemish Rescue Oil. For the love of God throw away your drying lotion immediately.
Schmidt’s Charcoal + Magnesium Deodorant ($29). No aluminium, no parabens, no phthalates and no sweat. Finally.
Aesop Herbal Deodorant ($39). Likewise for this guy! You’ll still get that “wet” sweat though, just no smell. Contains Sage Leaf and Zinc Ricinoleate, amongst other things.
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. Now I get why Jeffree Star froths this so much.
