Twenty Questions with Gabrielle Gibson

Welcome To Twenty Questions!

Every week I’ll be sharing a new twenty-something on the blog and their responses to twenty quick-fire, intimate questions about themselves. No one featured on Twenty Questions is a celebrity or public figure, and most of these people I don’t know very well, or at all. My hope is that by taking a peak into someone else’s soul you will realise that, despite our fundamental differences, we still have very similar insecurities, make similar mistakes and have fought similar battles to become the people we are today.

Gabrielle Gibson, 24

What is your full name?

Gabrielle Gibson

How old are you?

How old do you feel?

I think I feel younger as I still live with my parents.

Where were you born, and where do you live now?

I was born in Mairangi Bay and now at Campbell’s Bay, 2 minutes away. I’m still living with my parents, hopefully by this time next year I’ll have my shit together and move out.

What do you do for work?

Fingers in pies pretty much. I have been at Karen Walker for two years working part time along with teaching TRX suspension classes (straps that hang from the ceiling) at Les Mills. This year I began freelancing as a stylist, it’s super exciting as I get to play with clothes all day.

What do you do for fun?

Go to the gym and hang on the bars, watch YouTube in bed with something yum, eat with friends, and I always love a Sunday night burger/movie combo.

Did you go to university? If so, what did you study? If not, why?

I am about to start my final grind/semester studying communications. It’s taken a while for me to figure out what I want to do.

What is your favourite movie of all time?

Dark Knight Rises and Clueless.

What is the biggest risk you have ever taken that has paid off?

Moving to Australia 5 years ago to remove myself from an unhappy place. I ran away from my problems and suddenly moved to escape. That change in environment taught me only I can control my happiness.

Hardest moment of your twenties so far?

Being in a sad place coming into my twenties.

Best moment of your twenties so far?

Highlights have been travelling and meeting an amazing bae…actually the two together have been memorable.

  Who do you miss?

My bestie Kendall- she’s currently in London and my queen for Kardashian goss.

What do you like the most about yourself?

My confidence and generosity.  Teaching at Les Mills has been extremely rewarding in regards to my confidence and attitude towards people.

What do you like the least about yourself?

How hard I am on myself to succeed. Also shocking at replying to texts and emails and pick pimples till my face is a war zone.

If you had to get a tattoo, what would you get and where would you get it? If you already have tattoos, which is your favourite and why?

No tattoo’s but for years I loved the idea of getting a little Hello Kitty on the inside of my elbow, she’s so cute. I use to buy bulk amounts of temporary Hello Kitty tattoo’s and pretend they were real haha. Maybe one day.

How would your friends describe you?

Go-getter, extra, dependable, vibrant, thoughtful.

How would your parents describe you?

Hyperactive, independent, warm, organized.

When was the last time you cried?

Last week after my skin aggressively broke out and couldn’t understand why acne is something I have to deal with in my twenties. I googled everything and spent the night with toothpaste on my face. Bless.

  What are you afraid of?

Failing, not achieving everything I set out to.

If you could start your twenties again, what would you do differently?

Focus on what I need to achieve without allowing noise to distract me.
